Ingredients
Scale
Main Drink
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1–2 tablespoons maple syrup (adjust to taste)
- 1½ teaspoons ceremonial-grade matcha powder
- ¼ cup hot water (not boiling)
- Pinch of salt
- Ice (for serving)
Cold Foam (Optional)
- ¼ cup heavy cream
- 1½ tablespoons sweetened condensed milk
Instructions
- Make the Matcha: In a small bowl or cup, add the hot water, maple syrup, pinch of salt, and sifted ceremonial-grade matcha powder.
- Whisk the Matcha: Whisk vigorously or use a milk frother until the matcha is completely dissolved and smooth, free of any clumps.
- Assemble the Latte: Fill a tall glass with ice. Pour in the whole milk, then slowly pour the prepared matcha mixture over the milk. Stir gently to combine the layers together.
- Prepare the Cold Foam (Optional): In a small bowl or cup, whisk or froth the heavy cream and sweetened condensed milk together until soft peaks form, creating a luscious cold foam.
- Add the Foam: Spoon or pour the prepared cold foam over the iced matcha latte to finish and serve immediately.
Notes
- Use ceremonial-grade matcha for the best flavor and smoothness.
- Adjust maple syrup quantity to your preferred sweetness.
- Do not use boiling water to avoid bitterness in matcha; hot water should be around 175°F (80°C).
- The cold foam is optional but adds a creamy and sweet contrast to the drink.
- For a vegan version, substitute whole milk and heavy cream with plant-based alternatives and use a maple syrup-based sweetener instead of condensed milk.
