Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Base: Preheat your oven to 350°F. Unwrap the log of sugar cookie dough and slice it into 16 pieces, each about 1/2-inch thick and roughly 27 grams each. Gently roll these slices into balls, then flatten each ball into a disk about 1/2-inch thick using the palm of your hand.
- Coat with Nonpareils: Divide the nonpareils by color onto separate plates. Roll each cookie dough disk in the nonpareils until fully coated to get a festive, colorful crust. Place the coated cookies on two baking sheets lined with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- Initial Bake: Bake the cookies in the oven for about 2 minutes, just until they begin to spread slightly. This step sets the base for the stacked cookie.
- Add the Top Layer: While the base cookies start baking, open the package of Pillsbury Shape cookie dough and break it apart. Place one piece of this Shape cookie dough on top of each partially baked sugar cookie.
- Continue Baking: Return the baking sheets to the oven and bake for an additional 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges of the cookies turn a golden brown color, signaling they are fully baked.
- Make Ahead and Storage: These cookies can be prepared up to 2 days in advance. Once cooled, store them in an airtight container at room temperature to maintain freshness.
