Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 425°F and prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper to prevent sticking and for easy cleanup.
  2. Prepare the cabbage: Remove any loose outer leaves from the cabbage. Use a sharp knife to slice off the bottom of the core, creating a flat base so the cabbage can stand upright safely. Slice the cabbage vertically into 1-inch thick steaks and arrange them in a single layer on the lined baking sheet.
  3. Season the steaks: In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, garlic powder, and sea salt. Brush half of this mixture onto one side of the cabbage steaks. Carefully flip the steaks over and brush the other side with the remaining oil mixture.
  4. Roast the cabbage: Place the baking sheet in the oven and roast the cabbage steaks for 30 to 40 minutes. Halfway through the cooking time, rotate the baking sheet for even browning. The steaks are done when they are tender in the middle and well browned on the edges.
