Description

This One-Pot Teriyaki Noodles recipe is a quick and flavorful dish combining tender shredded cabbage and carrots with a savory-sweet teriyaki sauce. Cooked all together in one pot, this meal saves time and minimizes cleanup while delivering a comforting and satisfying Asian-inspired pasta dish.

Ingredients

Scale

Vegetables

  • ½ green cabbage, shredded
  • 2 carrots, shredded

Sauce and Seasonings

  • ⅔ cup soy sauce
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground mustard
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

Other Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 16 oz spaghetti (1 pound box)
  • 3 ½ cups water
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds, plus more for garnish

Instructions

  1. Sauté vegetables: Heat a large pot over medium-high heat. Once hot, add olive oil, shredded cabbage, and shredded carrots. Sauté for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables start to become tender.
  2. Add sauce and noodles: Stir in soy sauce, brown sugar, ground mustard, ground ginger, and garlic powder until well combined. Add the spaghetti noodles to the pot; you may break them in half if desired for easier cooking. Pour in 3 ½ cups of water.
  3. Cook noodles: Cook uncovered for 15-18 minutes, stirring the pot every few minutes once the noodles begin to soften. Stir more frequently near the end of cooking to prevent noodles from sticking to the bottom of the pot. Cook until noodles are tender and the liquid has mostly absorbed.
  4. Finish and serve: Remove the pot from heat and toss in the sesame seeds. Stir well to distribute. Serve immediately, garnished with additional sesame seeds and optional green onions for extra flavor and presentation.

Notes

  • Breaking the spaghetti in half helps it cook evenly in one pot.
  • Stir frequently near the end of cooking to prevent sticking and burning.
  • Adjust sweetness and saltiness by varying the brown sugar and soy sauce amounts to taste.
  • Add sliced green onions or a sprinkle of crushed red pepper flakes for garnish and added flavor.
  • Use gluten-free soy sauce and gluten-free pasta if gluten-free is desired.
