Ingredients
Scale
Pastry
- 1 package puff pastry
Filling and Topping
- 6–8 oz. goat cheese
- 1/4 cup honey
- 4 sprigs fresh thyme, chopped
Instructions
- Thaw and Prepare Puff Pastry: Follow the package instructions for thawing the puff pastry sheets. Once thawed, roll out the dough slightly to flatten it evenly for easier cutting.
- Cut Pastry Circles: Using a 2-inch circle cookie or biscuit cutter—or the rim of a small glass—cut rounds out of the dough. This creates bite-sized bases for the filling.
- Form Indentations: Place the cut pastry rounds on parchment-lined baking sheets. Gently press your thumb or finger into the center of each round to create a small well to hold the cheese filling during baking.
- Fill with Goat Cheese and Bake: Spoon approximately 1 teaspoon of goat cheese into each indentation. Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (204°C) for 8 to 10 minutes or until the pastry is flaky and golden brown.
- Drizzle with Honey and Garnish: Remove the baking sheet from the oven and allow the bites to rest for 2 minutes. Drizzle honey over each puff pastry bite and garnish with a pinch of chopped fresh thyme. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- Make sure the puff pastry is fully thawed but still cold for best results when rolling and cutting.
- If you prefer, substitute honey with maple syrup or a balsamic glaze for a different flavor profile.
- Fresh thyme can be replaced with other herbs like rosemary or oregano according to taste.
- These bites are best served shortly after baking to maintain the crispiness of the pastry.
