Easy Football Brownies Recipe

  • Author: Harry
  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 12-16 football-shaped brownies 1x

Description

These Easy Football Brownies are a fun and festive treat perfect for game day celebrations. Made with a simple boxed brownie mix and decorated with chocolate and white frosting, they are shaped like footballs for a playful presentation. Optional green frosting or sprinkles add a grass-like effect for an extra sporty touch.

Ingredients

Scale

Brownies

  • 1 box brownie mix for a 13 x 9 inch pan (plus eggs, oil, and water as listed on the box)

Frosting and Decoration

  • 1 tub chocolate frosting
  • 1 tub white frosting
  • Optional: sprinkles or green tinted frosting for “grass”

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 13 x 9 inch baking pan with parchment paper and lightly spray it with cooking spray to ensure easy removal of the brownies.
  2. Make and Bake Brownies: Prepare the brownie batter according to the package instructions. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Remove from oven and allow to cool completely in the pan for about 30 minutes.
  3. Cut Football Shapes: Carefully lift the cooled brownies out of the pan using the parchment paper. Grease the inside of a football-shaped cookie cutter (at least 1/2 inch deep) to prevent sticking. Cut football shapes from the brownies. Gather scraps, press them together, and cut additional football shapes as desired. If you don’t have a football cutter, use a round cutter and pinch two opposite sides to create football-shaped points.
  4. Chocolate Frosting Base: Fill a piping bag fitted with a small opening (about 1/4 inch wide) with chocolate frosting. Outline each brownie football, fill the center with the frosting, and smooth it out using a knife or spatula. Add sprinkles on top if desired for added decoration.
  5. Pipe Football Laces: Fill a second piping bag with white frosting and cut a small opening. Pipe a single line across the center of each football brownie. Then pipe several short crosswise lines along the center line to mimic football laces.
  6. Optional Grass Decoration: If desired, pipe green tinted frosting on the serving tray to resemble grass and place the decorated football brownies on top to complete the presentation.

Notes

  • Use parchment paper for easy removal of brownies from the pan.
  • If you don’t have a football-shaped cookie cutter, a round cutter with pinched ends works well.
  • To help with frosting application, use piping bags with small openings for more control.
  • Brownies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • For a gluten-free option, use a gluten-free brownie mix.
