Chocolate Covered Strawberries Recipe

  • Author: Harry
  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: Approximately 20 strawberries 1x

Description

Delight in these elegant Chocolate Covered Strawberries, perfectly ripe berries dipped in smooth melted chocolate and optionally decorated with white chocolate drizzle and toppings like sprinkles or Oreo crumbs. This no-bake treat is quick to prepare and ideal for celebrations or a decadent snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh strawberries
  • 10 oz chocolate (bittersweet, semi-sweet, milk or white chocolate)

Optional Toppings and Decorations

  • 3 oz white chocolate, optional
  • Pink gel icing color, optional
  • Sprinkles, optional
  • Oreo crumbs, optional
  • Any additional toppings, optional

Instructions

  1. Prepare Strawberries: Wash the strawberries thoroughly and dry each one completely using several paper towels to avoid any moisture that could prevent the chocolate from adhering properly or cause it to seize.
  2. Prepare Workspace and Toppings: Lay out parchment paper to place the dipped strawberries on for setting. Prepare any toppings you’d like to add after dipping, such as sprinkles or Oreo crumbs.
  3. Melt Chocolate: Place the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and heat in 10-20 second intervals, stirring well between each to promote even melting while avoiding overheating, which can cause chocolate to seize or streak.
  4. Dip Strawberries: Holding each strawberry by its stem, dip it into the melted chocolate, ensuring full coverage. Gently shake off excess chocolate before proceeding to the next step.
  5. Add Toppings: Quickly dip the chocolate-covered strawberry into your chosen toppings if desired, then set it on the parchment paper to firm up.
  6. Decorate with White Chocolate Drizzle (Optional): Melt the white chocolate following the same method as the dark chocolate. If desired, mix in pink gel icing to color it. Drizzle the white chocolate over the strawberries using a piping bag with a Wilton #3 tip or use a small ziplock bag with a corner snipped off.
  7. Allow Chocolate to Set: Let the chocolate firm up completely at room temperature. Serve the strawberries the same day for optimal freshness and texture. Avoid storing overnight to prevent condensation and textural changes.

Notes

  • Ensure strawberries are completely dry before dipping to prevent chocolate from seizing or not adhering properly.
  • Use parchment paper to prevent sticking and ease cleanup.
  • Chocolate can be any variety: bittersweet, semi-sweet, milk, or white chocolate according to preference.
  • Overheating chocolate can cause it to seize; heat slowly and stir frequently for best results.
  • For decorative drizzle, white chocolate can be tinted with gel icing colors and applied with piping or a snipped plastic bag.
  • Best served the same day to avoid sogginess or condensation forming on the chocolate coating.
