  • Author: Harry
  • Total Time: 30 minutes (including chilling time)
  • Yield: Approximately 20-25 brownie balls 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

These Best Date & Tahini Brownie Balls are decadent no-bake treats combining natural sweetness from Medjool dates, rich tahini, and smooth dark chocolate. With a luscious cocoa base and a satisfying bite, they’re perfect as a wholesome dessert or snack for chocolate lovers seeking a healthier alternative.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 11 Medjool dates (tear open and remove stones)
  • 3 tablespoons tahini paste
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup (or other liquid sweetener)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder (or cacao powder)
  • 3 tablespoons porridge oats (rolled oats)
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt (optional, adds depth of flavor)
  • 100 g dark chocolate chips (or dark chocolate for coating)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dates: Remove the stones from the Medjool dates and place the pitted dates into a food processor or blender jug to start the base of the brownie balls.
  2. Add Remaining Ingredients: Add tahini paste, maple syrup, vanilla extract, cocoa powder, rolled oats, and salt to the dates in the processor. Reserve the dark chocolate chips for coating.
  3. Blend Mixture: Pulse or blend all ingredients to a smooth, sticky dough-like consistency. If your food processor is less powerful, pulse in short bursts and scrape down the sides with a silicone spatula to ensure even mixing.
  4. Shape the Balls: Using your hands, roll the mixture into small balls about less than a tablespoon each, or any size you prefer. Place the formed balls on a parchment-lined baking tray for ease of handling.
  5. Chill the Balls: Place the tray of brownie balls into the fridge to firm up while preparing the chocolate coating.
  6. Melt the Chocolate: Melt dark chocolate chips gently in a microwave-safe bowl using short bursts of 15-20 seconds, stirring in between, or use a bain-marie by setting a bowl over simmering water making sure the bowl bottom doesn’t touch the water to avoid seizing.
  7. Coat the Balls: Using a teaspoon, dip each brownie ball into the melted chocolate and roll to coat evenly. Lift out and return to the lined baking tray.
  8. Set the Coating: Place the chocolate-coated brownie balls back into the fridge to cool and let the chocolate set firmly.
  9. Serve and Enjoy: Once the chocolate is fully set and firm, the brownie balls are ready to be enjoyed as a delicious no-bake treat.

Notes

  • Use Medjool dates for natural sweetness and a soft texture.
  • If you don’t have maple syrup, other liquid sweeteners like agave or honey can work well.
  • Ensure the chocolate does not come into contact with water during melting to prevent it from seizing.
  • These brownie balls are best stored in the fridge and consumed within 5 days.
  • You can make these balls larger or smaller depending on preference, but smaller sizes give better bite-sized portions.
